Let me be clear: I’ve never been one for New Year’s resolutions. I think it is great for those who use a new calendar year to implement a different health regimen, or stop gossiping about their friends. But for me, the most i’ll do is head to Paper Source for a new day planner.
That being said, this past January I was inspired to pick up a book of daily meditations called The Daily Stoic. Without being dramaticccc, I can honestly say this book has changed my outlook on life.

The Daily Stoic was published in 2016, and has recieved a significant amount of press, so apologies if this is just old news to you, but it just didn’t feel right having a blog about books and not including the only one I read daily!
If you are interested in learning more about TDS, here is a link to some information. Basically, each day there is a quote from a stoic philosopher, along with an interpretation/breakdown from the authors.
the bite: the daily elixir
Google “daily elixir” or “daily tonic” and you’ll get enough information to send you into a tizzy and forget the whole thing. My philosophy is… simple is always BEST! So forget the juicer, the fancy peptide powders, the collagens that promise you’ll grow a mane long enough to make a horse jealous…and stick to what ya know.
This recipe is a combination of popular little potions you’ll find through your daily elixir research, using tried and TRUE ingredients like lemon juice, cinnamon, and ginger. REMINDER: I AM NO NUTRITIONIST but from what I gather, these ingredients are anti-inflammatory, and are meant to both detox the body and boost your immune system.
- 1 chai tea bag
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Add the tea bag, lemon juice, honey, ginger and cinnamon to boiling water
- Stir until well combined
